Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel basketball head coach Chuck Driesell announced the team’s 2014-15 schedule on Tuesday, including 14 home games and meetings with Florida State, Virginia Tech and Michigan State.
The season tips off Nov. 15 with the fourth installment of the All-Military Classic. The pairings for the tournament, which includes VMI, Army and Air Force, have not been determined.
The Citadel makes its first appearance at McAlister Field House against Toccoa Falls on Nov. 19.
Highlighting the early portion of the non-conference schedule are games at Florida State (Nov. 25) and College of Charleston (Dec. 2). This marks the 10th all-time meeting with the Seminoles and the first since the 1999-2000 campaign.
The Bulldogs return home for a meeting with Navy (Dec. 6) that is quickly followed by the first Southern Conference game of the season against Chattanooga (Dec. 11).
Following a nine-day break for fall exams, The Citadel heads to Blacksburg, Va., for the 19th all-time meeting with the Hokies and first since Feb. 16, 1966, two years after Virginia Tech left the SoCon. The game also marks the fifth different ACC opponent that Driesell has faced in his tenure with the Cadets.
The Bulldogs head to Michigan State (Dec. 22) for the fourth-ever meeting with the Spartans and conclude their non-conference slate with a home contest against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 30.
SoCon play begins with a road swing to Western Carolina (Jan. 3) and UNCG (Jan. 5). The month of January includes a pair of home contests against Wofford (Jan. 15) and Furman (Jan. 17) before a three-game in nine-day stretch on the road against East Tennessee State, VMI and Chattanooga.
The Citadel is set to host five games in February including meetings with Mercer (Feb. 5) and UNCG (Feb. 7). VMI makes an appearance on Feb. 14 and the season concludes with a pair of games at McAlister against East Tennessee State (Feb. 26) and Western Carolina (Feb. 28).
